I'm fundraising for Ride for Cancer

I could not have imagined how profoundly cancer has influenced my life – and continues to impact it - as more people I know and love have to face this challenge. I am doing this because 1 in 2 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

This year marks 10 years since Sarah died. So 10 years – 100 miles – the symmetry makes sense. This means I will be riding the longest route, 160km, this year. The biggest challenge I’ve taken on to date.

Last year on my ride there were more than a few challenging moments – moments I was able to get through knowing the amazing support I had behind me, and knowing what I was going through was nothing compared to what those battling cancer fight through.

I am calling on you again to support my efforts as I ride to honor those we have lost often too early, too suddenly, celebrate those who have survived and fight for those battling cancer.

With your support, we are one step closer to introducing a new, world-class procedure at the QEII Health Sciences Centre - breast seed brachytherapy. This program will reduce the number of treatments required from 30 to 1. It will help ensure that some early stage breast cancer patients – from every community across our province – can spend less time at the QEII and more time at home, focusing on what matters most.

Join the team to help ensure our cancer centre has the best treatment options available here at home.

Cancer is big so I have set a big ambitious goal and I need your help! This is not an easy challenge for me – nothing connected to cancer is ever easy.

Every donation helps. Can I count on your support again this year? Donate what you can.

If I can get 50 people to donate $100.00, I will reach my goal of $5,000……..

If I reach my goal, you can still donate...(it would mean so much to get to the level we were able to achieve during our first ride efforts)

Thank you Kirk for all your efforts in fundraising and the ride itself. Still hard to believe it's been 10 years. Such a profound loss for so many of us losing Sarah. Words cannot express our gratitude for you continuing on this journey of fundraising with the wonderful support and love of Joy, Paige & Fife. Sarah would be incredibly proud of the beautiful and purposeful life you have built. As you honour her and support the many other lives impacted by cancer, thank you. Forever friends and part of the crew. Sending much love & support.
