Round 3: FIGHT! Cancer is no match for us!

Hey, I need your help. Cancer sucks. I know it, you know it, we all know it. It’s taken too many people from us, and it’s not stopping. Nova Scotia has the worst cancer rates in the whole country. One out of three people who get it won’t make it. That’s scary.

But we’re not giving up. We’re fighting back. We’re riding for a cure. Our BMO Ride for Cancer team is raising money for a new way to test for cancer that could save lives. It’s called liquid biopsy, and it’s amazing.

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, I’m joining hundreds of other riders who share one goal: to make cancer care better at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

Liquid biopsy is a simple blood test that can tell if someone is cancer-free after surgery, or if their cancer has come back, and how to treat it. It can be done anywhere in Nova Scotia, so people don’t have to travel far to get the best care. It can also help doctors find cancer earlier, when it’s easier to cure, and avoid treatments that don’t work or have bad side effects.

This is huge. Liquid biopsy can:
- boost survival rates and offer more chances for a cure;
- open up more opportunities for clinical trials
- spare patients from treatments they don't need or that hurt them
- keep care close to home and make sure everyone has access to it
- cut down on wait times and visits to the QEII
- give patients peace of mind and less stress; and so much more.

By donating to my ride, you’re joining a community that cares about beating cancer in Nova Scotia. You’re making a difference for me, for you, and for everyone we love.
