Every KM Matters

​When I signed up for this ride for the first time back in 2020, it was a commitment to a great cause. But as the years go by, and the kilometers add up, the reasons I am on this bike have become incredibly personal. Cancer isn't just a statistic; it is hitting close to home for so many people I care about.

​This year, I am pedaling for the people in my corner who are facing this disease right now. I am riding for my co-worker, David who is undergoing treatments and battling cancer today. His strength and resilience are a daily reminder of why this fight matters.

I am riding for Kyra, a friend and incredible member of the Loose Ends Curling community, who sadly passed away just days after this fundraising campaign started. She fought so hard over the past year and a half. 

​I am riding in memory of Amanda, a former colleague I was incredibly fond of, whom we sadly lost last year. 

I carry their memories with me on every stretch of the road.

​Ultimately, I am doing this for the people we’ve lost, the people currently fighting, and—just as importantly—for the individuals who haven’t been diagnosed yet but will one day have to rely on the vital, life-saving care at the QEII Cancer Centre.
