I started riding to work on a regular basis about 5 or so years ago. I needed to get my health under control. It seemed like a daunting task then. Today, it is just another thing.
I look at this and realise that for those diagnosed with Cancer of any stripe, it is not just another thing.
My wife recently lost her Grandfather. He had developed Leukemia just before passing. This just seemed like a great way to honour his memory, as well as help the millions of others who are battling Cancer in one of it's many forms.
I know that I am but a small cog in the machine. I amy only be able to move a few stones. But together, with the other riders and the support of the greater community, we can move mountains!
I'm fundraising for Ride for Cancer
Did you know one in two Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? It’s me or it’s you. On Saturday, September 28, I’m riding alongside a community with one common goal: to stop cancer in its tracks.
Together, we will transform care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre by purchasing a critical state-of-art cervical cancer diagnostic unit the most effective and minimally invasive way to diagnose and treat precancerous cell changes before they even develop into cancer.
We will help fund Atlantic Canada’s first surgical robotics system - giving prostate cancer patients shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery times and, most of all, more precise treatment or complete removal of cancerous tissues, which decreases the risk of cancer advancing or recurring.
This year, our Ride community will also fund ground-breaking research to discover new treatments and cures for blood cancer as well as individualized support programs for cancer patients and their families through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
We’ve all been touched by cancer. Your donation today will make an impact on Atlantic Canadians facing a cancer diagnosis.
Thank you for being a part of our fight!
