The Witchy Warriors Are On A Mission

The Witchy Warriors are trading our broomsticks for bicycles and saddling up to help fund lifesaving, world-class cancer care for all Nova Scotians.  Nova Scotia has the highest cancer rates in Canada. Currently, 1 in 2 are diagnosed in their lifetime and 1 in 3 patients will not survive.

We've all been impacted by cancer.  We wear the scars on our bodies and in our hearts.  I am privileged that my best friend and soul sister, Lisa, is joining me in the final year of the Ride for Cancer.  Her love and unwavering support have been constants throughout my life. We ride in honour of those we've lost, keeping their memories close in every kilometer.

Funds raised by our 2026 BMO Ride for Cancer community will support the full spectrum of cancer care at the QEII — strengthening every stage of the journey: earlier diagnosis, more targeted treatment, effective support between appointments, and monitoring that can detect cancer recurrence sooner.

This means advancing cancer-fighting technology and treatment options including:

  • Best-in-class imaging to detect cancer earlier with greater accuracy, reduce scan times and cut wait times
  • Precision oncology tools to help tailor therapies to each patient’s unique genetics
  • Surgical robotics and innovation to enable less invasive procedures and faster recoveries
  • Digital tools that empower and support patients at home, removing location barriers between appointments

Together, our BMO Ride for Cancer community is helping ensure that every patient who relies on Atlantic Canada’s largest and most specialized cancer treatment hospital has access to world-class care, right here at home.

With every dollar you donate to my Ride, you’re helping every step of the cancer journey from diagnosis to recovery and survivorship – ultimately saving and changing lives of Nova Scotians.

Please donate to our Ride today!

My Updates

Middle Age Mama

As many of you know, my beloved mother, Janette, died from ovarian cancer in 2019.  She was diagnosed in February and gone by April.

Not a day goes by that I don't ache for my Mom.  Her death changed me as a person.  As I'm entering into my next phase of womanhood, I find myself missing her even more.

She moved through life with faith and grace while being the primary caregiver for her parents and my father, who was also diagnosed with cancer.

Meanwhile, somedays, I feel like I am flailing and failing.  I'm furious that my children are missing out on their kind and gentle grandmother.  I'm angry that I can't pick up the phone and hear her voice.

So, I've decided to be my mother's rage.  I will be the voice that she quieted while caring for others.  I will ride like hell and earn every dollar of donation.  Her name will be my burning flame of motivation because I am my mother's daughter and she named me well-Kelly; Gaelic for Warrior.

I humbly ask that you join me in my rampage.

Thank you to my Supporters
