I'm fundraising for Ride for Cancer

Did you know that 1 in 2 Atlantic Canadians will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime? That is why I’m joining the fight to help build the best cancer care program in our region. On Saturday, October 3, I’m riding alongside a community with one common goal: to transform cancer care, here at home.

With your support, we are one step closer to introducing a new, world-class procedure at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Access to a breast seed brachytherapy program will help ensure that some early stage breast cancer patients – from every community across our province – can spend less time at the QEII undergoing radiotherapy. This program will reduce the number of treatments required from 30 to 1. For patients, this means more time at home, focusing on what matters most.

These tiny seeds have a big impact and with your support, we will be able to target breast cancer better than ever before and help ensure our cancer centre has the best treatment options available here at home.

We’ve all been touched by cancer and when you support my ride, you are funding the fight against cancer for Atlantic Canadians today and for future generations.

My Updates

My Cancer Ride

2020 is my second Ride for Cancer. Last year I rode for myself as I had been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. The new robotic surgery department was a beneficiary of last year’s Ride and less than a month later, I was one the first Nova Scotians to have robotic surgery. My doctor confirmed recently that 10 months post-surgery, I am showing all clear.
This year I have two close relatives recently diagnosed with cancer. Their cancer journeys will be quite different than mine, incredibly more difficult, and complicated further by COVID-19.
From my journey, I know the power of simple gestures–a hug, a handshake, a back rub. These are not possible for many cancer patients right now, including one of my family members. So, I’m doing what I can, riding 50 kms for them. This is my way of giving them a hug.
To do this, I need your help. Please make a donation…every dollar will make a difference and show those Nova Scotians affected by cancer during COVID-19 that even though we can’t give them a hug right now, we are still fighting alongside them

Thank you to my Supporters
