Support my Ride for Cancer!
It seems like everyone has someone in their life who has been affected by Cancer.
I have family and friends who have been or are still going through treatments, are in remission and have died from Cancer.
For three years, I watched my friend Cara receive her diagnosis of Neuroendocrine Cancer, have a major surgery, go through a variety of treatments and procedures all while staying positive. She inspired me and everyone around her with her strength, determination, and faith.
Cara passed away on June 7 and to say I am heartbroken would be an understatement. She was an amazing woman who had a positive impact on everyone she met. I am proud to call her my friend and I miss her a lot.
Last year, I watched Cara complete the Ride for Cancer and promised that I would complete the ride with her this year, and I plan to keep my promise.
In September, I will be participating in the Ride for Cancer for Cara and even though she won't be riding beside me, I know she will still be with me.
What if we could destroy cancer using a patient’s own immune system? What if we could cure at least half of all eligible blood cancer patients? Yes, I said cure. When you support my ride today, we’re one step closer to making these bold aspirations a reality.
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, I’m riding alongside a community with one common goal: to transform local cancer care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.
This year, we’re going to be bolder than ever before…our BMO Ride for Cancer community is all in! With your support, we’ll establish Atlantic Canada’s first-ever CAR-T therapy lab, a state-of-the-art space dedicated to genetically modifying a patient’s own immune cells (T-cells) to fight their cancer with unparalleled personalization and accuracy.
This revolutionary and lifesaving immunotherapy is a final lifeline and potential cure for certain blood cancer patients who’ve tried all other treatment options.
Benefits include faster treatment times, minimizing disruption to families’ lives, more clinical trials, and, most importantly, offering a potentially lifesaving treatment option to certain blood cancer patients who otherwise would not survive.
By supporting my ride, you are joining a community of champions funding the fight against cancer today and for future generations.
If you could save someone’s life, why wouldn’t you?
