One more Ride in the fight against cancer!

Hello — welcome to my page and thank you so much for your support of my fundraising efforts!
On October 3, 2026, I will be riding in the 12th BMO Ride for Cancer — the final version of this event and my 11th time hitting the trails to help raise money for cancer research, cutting-edge treatments, better patient care, and improved cancer detection and prevention for all. Once again, I’ll be joined by an incredible group of family and friends on Team Mikey’s Bikers — this year we have 19 riders on our team and will be doing all we can to raise funds in the fight against cancer. Thanks to your generosity, the members of our team have raised $232,635 since 2016 and we cannot wait to surpass our overall goal of $250,000 raised with your support this season!
It’s now been nine years since I was diagnosed with primary myelofibrosis, a rare, chronic blood cancer where scar tissue forms in the bone marrow and interferes with the production of healthy blood cells. I have been very fortunate to have experienced relatively little progression to date, although I will likely need to begin treatment sometime in the near future and will directly benefit from equipment we’ve purchased together in past years through the Ride for Cancer. Funds raised through this event have led to amazing advances in cancer care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax and benefited cancer patients from all around Atlantic Canada and beyond. For an overview of all we’ve accomplished together, visit https://YourRideforCancer.ca/Impact.
Funds raised by our 2026 BMO Ride for Cancer community will support the full spectrum of cancer care at the QEII — strengthening every stage of the journey: earlier diagnosis, more targeted treatment, effective support between appointments, and monitoring that can detect cancer recurrence sooner.
This means advancing cancer-fighting technology and treatment options including:
- Best-in-class imaging to detect cancer earlier with greater accuracy, reduce scan times and cut wait times
- Precision oncology tools to help tailor therapies to each patient’s unique genetics
- Surgical robotics and innovation to enable less invasive procedures and faster recoveries
- Digital tools that empower and support patients at home, removing location barriers between appointments
Together, our BMO Ride for Cancer community is helping ensure that every patient who relies on Atlantic Canada’s largest and most specialized cancer treatment hospital has access to world-class care, right here at home.
With every dollar you donate to my Ride, you’re helping every step of the cancer journey from diagnosis to recovery and survivorship – ultimately saving and changing lives of Nova Scotians.
Please donate to my Ride today — I sincerely appreciate your ongoing support!
